Pointing Your Domain To Your Hosting

Quick Start To Creating Your Website!

Pointing Your Domain To Your Hosting

If you have purchased hosting and your domain is purchased elsewhere, then you need to point your domain to your new host.

For example, you had Hostgator, you should have received the pointing information in your welcome email.HostgatorEmail

Or you can log into your Hostgator control panel. Scroll down and on the left hand side, you will find that information. It would be something like ns8463.hostgator.com and ns8464.hostgator.com.

Now log into your domain account. I will use Godaddy as an example.

Log into your Godaddy account.  Then click on Domains.

Choose your domain and click on Launch.

Go to Nameservers and choose Manage

Your nameservers will be pointing to Godaddy’s nameservers (not like the example here) so click on Custom and then click Add Nameserver.

Now type in your nameserver, click OK, then add the 2nd one and click OK.  Finish by clicking SAVE.

That’s all. It may take a few hours (more or less) for the information to propagate through the Internet so just keep checking back on your website. Congrats!!
